I just picked a load of Bullace from bushes that were smothered by Ivy, some of the berries skins had a dry brown blotch on them, do they suffer from some kind of ivy related disease ?.
I used a load that were blotch free but wondered if these " tainted " ones were ok to use, we also picked a bucketful of Sloe in the same hedgerow but they are good .
Anyway they were done as soon as we got home, however i note that the Sloes are shrivelling up after a week with the Gin and sugar but the Bullace and Damson are ok, i did get a bit carried away and made 5 x 1.7l bottles with £60 worth of gin but never mind its now just a matter of waiting and waiting
