stoned sloes sounds just perfect for sloes that have been soaked in gin for several months :lol:

When you say left over - do you mean ones that HAVEN'T been put into gin??

It's worth using the cooking chocolate for another reason too - no VAT :)

I too was wondering whether you could grow blackthorn from a seed...

We got some blackthorn plants from our local tree nursery too.

I'm going to give growing from seed a go anyway - I'll let you know how we get on :)

Ooh that sounds like a very interesting way to make sloe gin - we've just made our first two bottles... only we haven't added the sugar yet - just sloes and gin at the moment, sugar to follow.

What does your sugar and sloes mixture smell like??
