I've just tried this with 100g Lindt 85% and 30g sloes (if I could have been arsed to stone more i probably would ;)) that have been steeping since October.

I have a feeling it's gonna be very bitter, but i'll try and save the taste testing for xmas :)

yea, i did it within a couple of hours of picking. Just 70cl this year to start with, I'm not sure whether I'll like it or not yet ;)

The main cocktail using sloe I've heard of (but not tried) is a Sloe Screw - orange juice and sloe. As a variation a Sloe Comfortable Screw - 1 shot vodka, 1 shot sloe gin, 1 shot southern comfort then topped up with orange juice. I'm in Coventry, so theoretically speaking if the supply you know of is on the east side of birmingham I could make a special trip :) I've recently found a source of damsons up in cumbria where I go regularly so will at least be making damson gin for this xmas, but I'm still up for some sloe too :D ...
