Also ripe in Basingstoke. I picked nearly 3 lbs of sloes this afternoon mainly from one bush in the local park. Had to be careful when taking them off the bush as a lot of them were going mouldy. Hi, Can you tell me if I have to use white sugar, which I have used for today's brew, but I still have some sloes and wonder if I can use my usual unrefined granulated sugar. My neighbour last year made two lots of sloe gin, one with non pricked frozen sloes, and the other one with. We had a 'blind test' and you can easily tell the difference - you do need to prick them!
